Enter “The Secret World of Elephants” to discover the remarkable science behind nature’s most lovable giants. How do elephants “hear” with their feet? What animals are their closest-living relatives? How have elephants and humans coexisted for thousands of years? Through hands-on interactions, you will feel the low-frequency rumbles elephants use to communicate, explore how they reshape their environments and come face-to-face with some of their ancestors, including dwarf elephants. From the ancient Ice Age to the African savanna, get ready to be amazed by elephants’ incredible intelligence and fascinating history — and inspired to help protect their future.
The Book Club read the book "The Elephant Whisperer: My life with the herd in the African Wild". This was a true story of a man living in South Africa, who owned a game reserve in Zululand. He took in a herd of elephants. This proved to be quite a challenge. He was able to bond with the elephants in a way that seemed impossible.
You will purchase your own ticket to the museum online or in the lobby. Price is $22.95 for seniors. This exhibit is included in the price of admission.
There is another exhibit included with admission called "Brick Planet". This is an incredible display of Lego creations that are definitely inspirations. Take time to view this exhibit, also.
We will go to Happy Hour at Blanco Cocina and Cantina, 4177 E. 9th Ave. The menu offers beer for $5.00 and wine for $7.00, as well as discounted appetizers. Parking is on the street or in the parking garage.
